Laura van de Pol
For the past ten years I have been inspired and challenged to improve our built environment.
Previously, making buildings and their interiors sustainable has often been the furthest a certification process could go. Now, by implementing WELL standards into designs, I feel I can get the maximum result not only for the environment but also for the building’s occupants.
As an experienced interior designer and circular/sustainable architect I feel this holistic approach will form a new international standard that defines how our environments can be positive spaces where we heal.
Besides approaching design with a health and sustainable design focus, I strive to incorporate 'circularity' into my building or interior projects. Thinking and designing in closed loop systems is, in my opinion, the only responsible way to design in a world challenged by resource consumption.
The WELL community is a valuable network in which we support and inspire each other. I believe the best way to learn is from experience and sharing knowledge. Community-driven thinking is the fastest way something can evolve and grow, and WELL is the health-driven certification system our built environments need right now.
Wellness is everything, as your health is the most precious thing you own. And having the knowledge to inspire and help others is a powerful tool to incorporate into your daily life.
Only a healthy body can have a healthy mind, which is why I incorporate exercise and balanced nutrition into my daily routine.
